In the folk violin department, our students can get to know the characteristic treasure of melodies of Hungarian folk music, the specific playing modes, decorations and technical peculiarities of different folk music dialects.
The sound of the folk violin, penetrating all the noise of the ballroom, attracts the attention of the people, bringing their favorite melodies close to them. It is no coincidence that it has become the most important melodic instrument of every prominent day of folk entertainments and village life. In some places, people were amused by the sound of a violin accompanied by a percussion. In other regions, three (violin, viola, double bass) or multi-member string bands provided a good atmosphere, sometimes supplemented with a dulcimer or repertoire.
Folk violin learning can be started at a very young age, but it is also possible to switch to this instrument after classical studies.
In addition to sheet music, imitation (hearing, visual learning) and later listening to original folk music collections also play a significant role in education.
The department provides an opportunity to form folk music ensembles, with the help of which our students can experience the joy of playing together. Folk music ensembles can also provide an opportunity to collaborate with folk dance groups, giving members a greater insight into our folk music culture.
